Štefan obtained a degree in law and graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava. He has over 40 years of law practice in all areas of the law. In the long run, he has ranked among the renowned attorneys at law, mainly in the field of bankruptcies and restructuring.
Apart from advocacy, he also has experience in other legal professions. In his long career, he has worn the judge's gown and also worked at the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic and at the National Council of the Slovak Republic. He has been a member of the Slovak Bar Association, and in 2010 he regained qualification from the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic to operate as a bankruptcy trustee, which position he previously held for 5 years. During his legal practice, he participated in large business transactions amounting to several million Euro. He provides legal services in German, Hungarian, and Russian languages.
